Large wheelbase, big tires in 2.4 (Continental Trail King), the new GT Force is a big baby.
Combined with 650b wheels and a new carbon frame that includes the i-drive next generation – you have for sure one of the most sexiest bike of 2014 ranges.
here is the Force Carbon Pro. It combines serious stuff such as a shimano drivetrain and adds some touches of fun with a combo Raceface on the cockpit and nice e-thirteen wheelset – the rear hub produces an amazing sound – never heard before !
New suspension design is called AOS for Angle Optimized Suspension. It looks basically more integrated and compact than the I-drive. The fixed point of the suspension is the one just above the bottom bracket. It develops 150mn of travel – you find the same travel with the Fox Float 34 front.
If you look at the drivetrain, there is something strange. You find a shimano XT 3×10 system where most of all mountain bikes proposes 2×10 or 1×11 for the finest ones. Nevertheless, good news is that it is very easy to switch XT group to a 2×10 configuration.
Cockpit is a model of design with a combo Raceface Turbine : large handlebar (760mn) and medium stem (60mn) offers an easy to feel good position.
It’s less sexiest than the combo Renthal offered by Canyon on its AM / enduro bike but it does the job with class and a touch of sophistication (cf machining of the stem). Formula T1 brakes and the RockShox Reverb controller are here.
Detail that kills
Do you remember Polo candies, the sweet with a hole ?
This is the same thing for the GT frame with a very nice design front of the bike. The toptube is “broken” and offers an agressive style (there is also reasons to provide more stiffness to long toptubes). If you do a hole in this area, it results a kind of air design very nice to see.
Air design.. it matches the key visual of GT brand with the mythic wings that you can find on the frame !
