29er bikes are now well implemented on the range of many brands.
We have made a selection of 4 bikes that represents according to us what people can expect from 29er products.
4 bikes, 4 brands, and not only full suspension bikes !
Niner jet9 RDO
This a one of the most amazing bike you can find on a range of mountain bike today. Niner bikes are well finished and there are a lot of details that send you this message : try this bike, try this bike…. The design of the frame is both simple and complicated. If you watch a single point, you’ll see something very pure. If you have an overall check of the bike, you can think that the drawing is a bit complex. But that’s basically why everyone can recognize a Niner.
Bonus : if you are careful, you’ll find a surprise on the bike (small index : on the front of the bike)
Sobre is a young french brand specialized on hardtail & steel frame. Main advantage of steel tubes are the comfort brought by the flexibility of this kind of tubes. That’s why Sobre develops a full range of very simple frames, in 26inches from XC profile to enduro, and this 29inches, called Dad.
This kind of hardtail allows you to build an efficient bike without too much spendings. That was the promise and objective of the guys @sobre. But they told us they were surprised when they checked the first customers builts which were equiped with very premium components.
Of course, there is no problem with the philosophy of the brand, based in Beaujolais : pleasure max with a simple design and high reliability.
SANTA CRUZ TALLBOY LT
Who says that 29er bikes are supposed to be only Xcountry oriented ?
@santacruz, they believe in 29er wheels to develop this kind of trailbike. The TallboyLT is stored on the trail bike / all mountain category of products. The fork with high travel and the chainguide recalls us that you can engage on the trail with this bike. Even if we do not test the bike , we know the VPP2 suspension (we ride now a blur LT2) and the association between VPP2 and 29inches wheels may offer a lot of efficiency and comfort for sure.
SantaCruz believes in 29inches bikes with the Highball (hardtail), Tallboy and Tallboy LT – but our source told us than the brand works now on 650B dedicated frames… Next santa cruz range of products could be amazing with an impressive number of frames available for fans !
SPECIALIZED SWORKS EPIC CARBON
This the bike of Jaroslav Kulhavy, gold medal at the last olympic games in London. It is equipped with the last SRAM XX1 groupset (1 ring front and 11 speeds back). We take a picture of this bike to congrats Specialized for their sales dynamism. Over 14 000 guys were here at Roc D’Azur and it seems in our eyes that riders are completely fans of the brand – we saw so many Stumpys !
End of this 29inches review !
