Pivot Mach 5.7 Carbon
The carbon version of the Mach 5.7c that we have treview this week is at least a great surprise. DW link suspension take advantage of a new linkage to be even more efficient. The Pivot carbon frame provides an excellent finish that leaves no one indifferent. Like all manufacturers, Pivot offers several levels of equipment, the model we test in an entry-level (sic) proposed with a FOX / Shimano XT / SLX mounting whose price rises 5000 €, which can reach € 7,749 on a full XTR model. Note that it’s also available with the newSRAM XX-1 group for 7099 €.
Enough presentations. Although for a AM practice with 145 mm of travel, our 5.7c is equipped with devices typed X-Mountain like the handlebar / stem / seatpost FSA signed equipment. But it should have been optimized with a telescopic seatpost, a hanger somewhat wider. However, with a weight without pedals below 13kg (26,5 Lbs), this is a very honest build.
Suspensions, a Fox set compose by Float CDT fork and shock float CDT Kashima coating, have shown convincingly once we made few adjustments. The balance before rear and front is correct even if this fork deserves a little more hydraulic seal. To compensate for this behavior we had increased the air spring pressure to maintain a constant ride to the platform.
Magura MT2 brakes on, have after a period of adjustment, shown a nice progressivity and enough power when you take the lever . However we would have liked a sharper attack and a little more bite.
A racer ergonomics
With a long stem (100 mm NDLA) and a narrower handlebar position pedaling pedaling only encourages more attacks in tumbling. However, the effectiveness of the DW suspension clearly involved in the transmission of pedaling power to the ground, acceleration is amazing for a 145 mm suspension travel bike .
You’ll notice the elegant frame guards carbon interchangeable bonded and therefore proved effective in our test.
